Bobbyjo

This is a photograph of a sculpture of the race horse who won the Aintree Grand National in 1999. The sculpture is in Mountbellew , near to Mullaghmore, where the horse was owned and reared by the Burke family.

Bobbyjo had won the Irish Grand National in 1998, a year before he won at Aintree. He was trained by Tommy Carberry, who was the last jockey to win the Aintree race on an Irish horse. That was in 1975 on L'Escargot. Bobbyjo was ridden by Tommy Carberry's son, Paul, in the 1999 race.
