Ardrahan
This is a photograph of Ardrahan village which lies in the south of the county on the main Galway to Limerick road. In ancient times this was the stronghold of the O'Heynes, or Hynes, Lords of Aidhne. With the help of other Irish clans, they defeated the Normans in 1225. However after Richard de Burgo conquered County Galway in 1236 he granted Ardrahan to Maurice Fitzgerald.
