Menlo Castle from across the river
This is a photograph of the ruins of Menlo Castle from across the river. The castle was the home of a Blake family, one of the tribes of Galway. It was built in 1569 and burnt down in 1910. Eleanor Blake, daughter of Sir Valentine Blake who the then resident of the castle, died in the fire. Two servants, Bridget Early and Annie Brown also died.
