spanish arch galway

This is a photograph of The Spanish Arch. Originally an extension of the city walls, The Spanish Arch was built in 1584. It's located on the banks of the River Corrib across from the Claddagh. It was known as Ceann an Bhalla (Head of the Wall), until the nineteenth century when it acquired it's present name.
