View from Newtownsmyth
This photograph was taken in Newtownsmyth and looks towards the Salmon Weir Bridge one of Galway's four bridges. The bridge was built in 1818. The gaol which stood where Galway Cathedral now stands was only a few hundred yards from the courthouse but there was a river between them. The bridge was built to connect them.
